"People have been asking all year long" – says the lead organizer
We start our conversation with Jonas Bazevičius, the championship's lead organizer, with a simple question: were there any doubts this year?
"None," – Jonas smiles. "There were no doubts. The only question was how to do it better. People have been writing since winter – and that is the best possible signal that you have to keep going. When participants themselves ask 'is it happening this year' – you simply cannot let them down."
This championship is not just another tournament on Klaipėda's padel calendar. Over the years it has grown into the most anticipated summer event in the padel community – not just in Klaipėda, but across all of Lithuania.
"The spirit of the Sea Festival is hard to explain to someone who hasn't been there. It's not just courts and points. It's the atmosphere, the people, the after-party, the friends you see once a year and already know – we'll meet in Klaipėda at the end of July," – says Jonas.
"From a technical standpoint, this year will be sharper than ever" – Tadas Šeškauskas
The man responsible for making sure this entire celebration runs like clockwork is Tadas Šeškauskas – the tournament's technical coordinator. He's the person people call when they don't know which group they're in, when their match starts, or why the draw fell the way it did.
"The tournament is growing. The number of participants is growing, the skill levels are growing, the expectations are growing. That's why we need to be more precise every year," – says Tadas. "This year we have 12 different groups – from Start+ level all the way to Masters. That means every player – whether they're competing for the first time or a seasoned A-level contender – will find the right challenge for them."
The group structure this year covers everything: Men's Hard+, Hard B/B+, Power+, Power, Light, Start+ – mirrored for Women, plus MIX Middle and the elite Masters category.
"What matters most to me is that when someone arrives, they know – everything is organized, everything is clear, everyone knows what they're doing and when. That is respect for the participants," – Tadas adds.
A bigger celebration demands bigger partners
The ambition is there. The experience is there. The community is enormous. But Jonas doesn't shy away from saying what is simply true: to do better than ever before, strong sponsors need to be part of the story.
"We can run a great tournament without extra funding. We've already proved that. But if we want to genuinely surprise our participants – with professional photography, an even more valuable gift package, a more memorable awards evening – we need partners who believe in what we're building," – Jonas says openly.
The championship's audience is an active, sports-minded community from all across Lithuania. People who travel to Klaipėda specifically for this event. People who talk about it afterwards in their circles, their clubs, their workplaces.
"If you have a brand that wants to be seen by this audience – this is your place," – Tadas adds.
